Alton Harbor to Hoppies

Two locks and the Arch today!

Alton Marina is a nice stop, well kept and easy to get in and out of. We pickup another looper boat to go with us down the Mel Price Lock with us. Nice young couple with in a Ranger tug.

Called the lock early to schedule a down stream lock and where told we had to be underway prior to getting into the que. Rush to get going, but a big barge sail past the marina before we could get going. So much for a fast lock though. Luckily only a half an hour delay and off we go. Next lock six mile down river.

St. Louis is a working marine town not a pleasure boring town. Lots of barge traffic! Very cool to see the arch!

While the next lock is backed up with barges and we are told to tie off and wait. An hour and a half later we are heading downriver. On our way to Hoppies! Hoppies the only fuel for the next 200 miles. Guess we will top off the tanks.
