Ship’s Log 01 21 2026

Venice Crow’s Nest to Cayo Costa state park

Went out the Venice inlet heading into the Gulf of Mexico. Plan was to check the waves heights which were okay and with the wind calming it should be a great trip. The first 20 miles went as planned, but the wave and wind direction changed as we got closer to Boca Grande. We change our direct line to the Inlet and went towards shore to get a better ride. As we got closer to shore the winds calmed down and we made it to the inlet with much calmer waters.

Cayo Costa was great, quite a few boats anchored in the small bay, but plenty of room for us. We put the dinghy in the water and walked the beach for a couple of hours. Probably one of the best Florida beaches in my opinion.

Beautiful sunset and the Admiral made a great dinner and we had a nice evening at anchor. Tomorrow on to Captiva, T’ween Water Marina.
